Shuffle/randomize Flashcards

jonfox's picture

Hello -

I would like to be able to shuffle the order in which a given set of Flashcards appears to a learner, so that a single learner can use a set multiple (perhaps unlimited) times and never know which problem will appear next.  Ideally, this would be a feature of the Flashcard set that could be turned off or on at the discretion of the author.

Thank you.

Hi jonfox,

Thanks a lot for contributing your ideas on how to make H5P better! We’re now working on something called the H5P supporter program allowing the H5P community to vote for and fund the top voted H5P features. Also there are developers in the community who every now and then works on a feature they find interesting or useful.

This is a no-brainer.  Flashcards are called "CARDS" because they can be shuffled to give a different order each time the same student goes through them so that they learn without PATTERNS.

Where do I up-vote this?

Hi Doug,

Currently commenting on an existing feature request is the only way to upvote it.

Hi Oliver,

thanks a lot for sharing! Could you please explain how to use it? I have uploaded the folder h5p-flashcards-master to the library, it didn't work. Then I replaced all the files from the flashcards library with the files from this folder, it didn't work as well.

Hope you find some time to help ;-)

Best,
Anastasia

Hi Anastasia!

There are some steps involved to merge in the changes (beyond copying files) and some things you should know when doing that, so if you're not a little tech-savvy, I assume your best bet is to wait until the H5P core team decides whether that pull request fill find its way into the official repository.

Best,

Oliver

Thanks, Oliver! I guess, I will wait.

Best,
Anastasia

Hi jonfox,

You can always use dialog cards instead. I'm getting the sense that most of these feature requests won't be addressed anytime soon, so that's what I use every time I need flash cards. Those are able to be randomized and they have lots of great features.
