Interactive Video
Primary tabs
An HTML5-based interactive video content type allowing users to add multiple choice and fill in the blank questions, pop-up text and other types of interactions to their videos using only a web browser. Make your videos more engaging with H5P and interactive video in publishing systems like Canvas, Brightspace, Blackboard, Moodle and WordPress.

Description
Videos may be enriched with interactivities like explanations, extra pictures, tables, Fill in the Blank and multiple choice questions. Quiz questions support adaptivity, meaning that you can jump to another part of the video based on the user's input. Interactive summaries can be added at the end of the video. Interactive videos are created and edited using the H5P authoring tool in a standard web browser.
Learn how to create Interactive videos in this tutorial.
Features
The following H5P content types may be added to your video:
- Multiple choice questions with one or more correct answers
- Free text questions
- Fill in the blank questions
- Drag and drop questions
- Interactive summaries
- Single choice question sets
- Mark the word activities
- Drag and drop text
- Images
- Tables
- Labels
- Texts
- Links
All question types can be configured to perform adaptive behavior, meaning that a correct answer could cause the user to skip to a specified place in the video while an incorrect answer could take the user somewhere else in the video. Typically, submitting a wrong answer will cause the user to be directed to the place in the video where the answer to the question is presented.
You may also add bookmarks so that your users can skip to specified sections of the video on demand.

Since version 1.20 external mp4 videos are not longer supported.

Hi Johappel,
Accessibility is very important for H5P, and in order to allow subtitles for external videos we're currently requiring that the servers they are hosted on has an Access-Control-Allow-Origin header set that allow H5P.com / H5P.org or whatever site you're using access to the video in a cross origin resource sharing manner. We see that many servers used by community members unfortunately does not have this set, and that they are not controlled by the community member either, so we're considering a solution where you can decide to allow such servers, sacrificing accessibility.(i.e. sacrificing subtitles support to use these servers).

Hi
Hi,
Subtitles are not the problem here, the adding external mp4 videos is (when wanting to add interactions h5p reports 'Video format not supported'). The sharing an external .mp4 link didn't work with me either. What could be the problem?
Thank you for your efforts.

Hi Tina,
You are correct using the subtitles is really optional for some. This is why we are considering in making some changes to Interactive Video to allow servers that do not support Access-Control-Allow-Origin.

Moodle course gets completed even if the IV activity is not
Hi,
First of all, thanks for this great tool!
My question relates to the H5P Moodle version. We have been wondering how is it possible that a course get completed, even if a required H5P activity is not complete (i.e. activity completion shows as a red cross, instead of a green mark).
An interactive video contains 6 questions, all of which have to be answered correctly to pass the course. The course has no other activities as criteria.
Scenario 1: A user clicks through the video, submits answers to only one question and is not going through the content as intended. The result: the course shows as completed, but the H5P activity has failed. The hover text over the red cross next to the H5P says "Did not receive passing grade".
The question is, how does Moodle recognize the passing grade for H5P? Unlike for Quizzes, there does not seem to a place for this in the activity settings.
Could it be that H5P and Moodle are out of sync of what is actually sent and received, so that even an incomplete submission counts towards course completion? Do you have tricks for fixing this in the gradebook etc.?
Scenario 2: A user has successfully completed the H5P activity (answering everything correctly and submitting their answers). The result: both the course and the activity appear completed, with green marks. This works well.
When the user then visits the H5P again, maybe just to check upon something, with the intention of not going through the contents or doing the tests again, the following happens: the course remains completed but the activity now becomes incomplete.
Is there a way to force H5P and/or Moodle to retain the original grade? For the Moodle quiz, there is the setting for "highest grade" vs. "latest attempt". It seems that H5P keeps using the latest attempt, which makes the course completion data now unreliable.
I tried to look through the Gradebook (= not my strongest skill) but haven't been able to get this to work, so any hints are welcome! :)

Hi,H5Ps can have the
Hi,
H5Ps can have the following activity completion criterias:
Furthermore you can set the grade that is required for the activity to be marked as passed.
You're not saying what activity completion criterias you have chosen for the activity, so it is a bit hard to say where the fault is.
Which version of the H5P plugin and which version of the Interactive Video do you have installed ?
The H5P plugin has had full support for setting passing grade in the H5P settings, just like Quizzes, for quite some time. There is a "Grade to pass" input field and a "Maximum grade" input field, which together make up how much score is possible to get in the H5P and how good score is needed to pass.
If you want the course to be completed without requiring an H5P activity to be completed you can fix that in the course completion settings: https://docs.moodle.org/36/en/Course_completion_settings
In Interactive Video, the score is only submitted from the "submit screen", when the user actively chooses to submit answers, so just revisiting content for testing purposes should not update the score. There is no way to choose which score to retain in H5P currently, it will always use the latest score that is being submitted.

Peertube support ?
Hello,
I don't host my videos in youtube, rather in peertube, but copying the url from peertube didn't work. I tried with .webm and mp4 and failed. I tried to add a ".mp4" or ".webm" at the end of the url (why not...) but it didn't solve it. Any clue ?

Hi leprofesseur,
Youtube uses a special way of streaming videos that lets Interactive Video use the URL directly. When uses a different video hosting site you need to get the source URL for the video adding .mp4 at the end wouln't normally work since the host video in most cases uses a totally different URL.

I tried hard and couldn't make it work. I copied-pasted the embed and also the magnet link from peertube but failed. After inspecting peertube, I've found a "blob:https://peertube.etc" related to my video, but couldn't make it work neither. I have to underline that I don't have my own peertube instance, so I don't know where to find this source URL. I saw there is a feature request on github about this issue. Change the colour of the Text Icon used in the Interactive Video
Hi
I would like to know how to change the colour of the Text Icon used in the Interactive Video element. I am currently using H5P with wordpress plugin on my website. I am also using Thrive Themes Rise which allows me to add custom CSS.
Due to my limited knowledge of CSS I am unable to find the CSS to change this.
The default icon is shown in this image:
https://snag.gy/7GtzTR.jpg
Ideally, I would like to change it to a transparent image that I can place over the top of a word or another icon or image that is already in my video.
Any help is appreciated.

Hi Elizandro,
This is intended to be an interactive video. The photos are already in the video and were not inserted separately. Furthermore the hidden path that was mentioned in the description are navigation hotspots that are situated on top of the images of the animals. The hotspots are then configured to go to the timecode for that specific animal or to the "incorrect" timecode.
If you want to further study the content you can simply download it and upload it to your account.

we have installed H5P as a Moodle plugin but I cannot install Interactive Video as a content type it is not shown in the list. We are currently using H5P version 1.15 and Moodle 3.5.1+ (Build: 20180727).
Is there any page where I can see all the library components currently available with the latest H5P and Moodle versions?

Chrome full screen issues
Hi noticed that the behaviour for the full screen interactive video is poor on my iphone 6 in Chrome. When the video is in full screen mode and the phone is turned to horisontal mode the content is pushed halfway off the screen and the chrome is still showing. (the content remains incorrect when turning back to vertical mode) When you interact with the screen again the frame moves into the correct position, but with the chrome still showing which hampers the experience. There also seems to be some issues with the overlays that needs to be scrolled or gets cropped. In Safari the content gets pushed down and then adjusted correctly. There also seems to be less issues with the overlays in Safari.

Hi,
so when you resize the browser below 560px (so on all smartphones), all the "posters" from interactions are automatically converted to "buttons". Is there a way to prevent this? Hi m_h5p,
This is by design since in small screens the activity will take up the whole screen. However you may post a feature request for this. In order for your feature request to attract as much interest as possible make sure it follows the below guidelines:
It is clear from every perspective how the feature will work. We recommend describing the feature with one or more user stories, for instance “As an author I want it to be possible to pick between different effects for the check answer animation so that the learners will see a variety of effects and also I can adapt the effects to my target audience(I’ll be using pink unicorns which works really well for both my target audience which are 4 year old girls and venture capitalists)”
If the feature can be illustrated with images or videos it always helps
Make it clear what content types this is relevant for, and or if this is a new content type
Make sure you post the feature in the Feature Request forum.
