Drag the Words
Primary tabs
A free HTML5 based question type allowing creatives to create text based challenges where users are to drag words into blanks in sentences. Excellent for language training among other things. Use this with the H5P plugin for WordPress, Moodle or Drupal.

Description
Drag the Words allows content designers to create textual expressions with missing pieces of text. The end user drags a missing piece of text to its correct place, to form a complete expression.
May be used to check if the user remembers a text she has read, or if she understands something. Helps the user think through a text.
It's super easy to create a drag the words task. The editor just writes the text and encloses the words that are to be draggable with asterix signs like *draggableWord*.
Features
- Add as many expressions and missing pieces of text as you like
- A hint may be added to each missing piece of text
- Drag the Words can be included in Presentation, Interactive video and Question set content types

Issue with scrolling
First, thanks for the awesome work.
Having a problem with content not scrolling when dragging the draggables for smaller screens or when the text is bigger than the screen.
Is it possible to make the words scroll together with the screen?

Mouseless navigation
Hi there! I love this idea, but obviously I can't use content types that are user-friendly to people with accessibility needs. Can someone help me understand how people can answer these questions without using a mouse? Are there hot keys they can use? I've tested this with a screen reader and I'd love to know more about how blind, low vision, and other users who rely on keyboard navigation can actually interact with this content (rather than just know that it is there).

Hi mpetrich,
Drag and Drop and Drag Text both follow the same procedure if you are going to use the keyboard. The arrow keys lets you navigate though the draggables. Once the desired draggable is highlighted you can press "space bar" or "enter/return" to lock the draggable. This in turn highlights the drop zones and again using the arrow keys you can navigate through them. Pressing the "space bar" or "enter/return" will drop the draggable in the desired drop zone.
I hope this helps if you have further questions feel free to post in the forums.

Hi, I have the same wish as Birgit: I'd like to be able to place an image above the sentences and the words (for example in Multiple choice or Fill in the blanks), so that the text could be linked with the image. Thomas

Add Text Formatting Feature?
I love this formative, self-check assessment type question, but find it to be very limiting because I can't format the text. In particular, I'd like to present the questions in a 2x2 or 3x3 table perhaps. If Drag-the-Words permitted simple HTML, that would be good; if it permitted <table> tags, that would be great!

Hi i.Ron,
Thanks a lot for contributing your ideas on how to make H5P better! We’re now working on something called the H5P supporter program allowing the H5P community to vote for and fund the top voted H5P features. Also there are developers in the community who every now and then works on a feature they find interesting or useful. In order for your feature request to attract as much interest as possible make sure it follows the below guidelines:
It is clear from every perspective how the feature will work. We recommend describing the feature with one or more user stories, for instance “As an author I want it to be possible to pick between different effects for the check answer animation so that the learners will see a variety of effects and also I can adapt the effects to my target audience(I’ll be using pink unicorns which works really well for both my target audience which are 4 year old girls and venture capitalists)”
If the feature can be illustrated with images or videos it always helps
Make it clear what content types this is relevant for, and or if this is a new content type
Make sure you post the feature in the Feature Request forum.

Hi, there.
Is there a way to add "extra" draggable word that don't fit anywhere (because they are incorrect alternatives). Let's say that there are 5 blank spaces but 8 draggable word, obviously only 5 of them are correct.
I'd really like to have this option available.
Thanks, and keep up the great wor

different words for different questions
Hi, I'm trying to create an exercise where students have to drag words (like 4-5) to put it in the correct order. But, I also want to have a few questions like that. And, I want to have the answers separately for each question.
For example:
1. I *arrived* when they *were* *having* dinner.
2. I *had* lunch *with* my *friends* today.
So, I want the options to be listed separately, for question 1 and 2. Not all jumbled together. Is this possible?

Hi mannvdn,
The next/previous button is not part of the H5P, instead it is a part of the page written in HTML. However you can create a Quiz (Question Set) that will let you have multiple instances of Drag the Words in a single content.
